AYURVEDA system of medicine dates back to more than five thousand years , when an enlightened class of seers and sages among the Hindu elite made experiments with Herbs and Minerals to perfect this science. During the succeeding centuries , especially in the course of alien rule over India , this native science fell into decay. During the early 19th and early parts of 20th century it further degenerated into monopoly of quacks and illiterate medical practitioners in the rural areas of India , who brought into disrepute , until Maharishi Amar Nath , the founder of Navjivan Pharmaceutical works revived Ayurved as a complete science from the rubbish dump of History.
The word ‘Maharishi’ which is a team of respect denotes a person of profound knowledge and learning , and a lofty spirit dedicated to some nobel cause for the benefit of humanity. By combining the role of a Saint , Scientist and Scholar , Dr. Amarnath who founded Navjivan in early twenties did unremitting research over years into the hoary past of Ayurved. By collecting bits of knowledge about it from diverse sources , he gradually perfected it into a unique and infallible healing power , thus raising it from its lowly form to the status of a dynamic and powerful science.

NEW ORIENTATION THROUGH MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL LIGHT
During his life Maharishi Amar Nath gathered knowledge to systematize herbs and plants , some of which were regarded as harmful or poisonous. He mastered the art of transforming poison into life saving drugs and even demonstrated immense utility of the venom of some reptiles in arresting malignant diseases. Some herbs , minerals and wild plants which were universally regarded as lethal poisons were proved by him as virtual saviours of human lives.
His approach to every Human disease differed from the technical methods of Allopaths and Western doctors and Surgeons. A Law Graduate and a man of great learning and knowledge. Maharishi Amar Nath mastered Sanskrit to study the ancient Ayurvedic Scriptures in their original form instead of depending on translated versions. Having learnt Sanskrit , he could satisfy his consuming thirst for knowledge by studying the medical literature of ancient civilisation in its original scripts.

DISCOVERY OF A NEW OCEAN OF PSYCHIC AYURVEDA
The eldest son of late Maharishi Amar Nath , Shri Param Jit Kumar , expounded that the speciality and superiority of Ayurved over other medical sciences lay in the fact that it transcended herbal and mineral formulations into the remain of human Psyche. By reaching its upper stratum of “ Psychic Ayurveda ” there was no problem on earth pertaining to human race which could not be set right through a methodical Ayurvedic approach. As a unique science it had infallible formulas which function like laws of gravitation and its greatness is that deals not only with the cure of an individual and the society as a whole.
Shri Param Jit Kumar considered disease as a state in which man is other than his own being. Therefore cure to him meant restoring man to his true normal self. It was his conviction that the foundation of Ayurved rested on the inherited on a spiritualistic base as a pre - requisite for the treatment of any disease.

ABOUT OURSELVES In year 2003 NAVJIVAN PHARMACEUTICAL WORKS became 80 years old. It is the only Indian Firm which introduced Ayurvedic medicines in every continent over half a century ago , and produced effective cures which covered a wide range of human ailments. In the beginning only few medicines were produced dealing mainly with the common diseases of patients. However , with the lapse of time , Maharishi Amarnath who founded Navjivan in 1923 , evolved effective formulas through his ceaseless research for almost every known disease.
OUR SPECIALITY During the late sixties , our production covered a wide spectrum of ailments and we also developed the expertise in preparing special medicines by applying Ayurvedic Therapy on individual basis according to the history of the case and acuteness of the trouble. The production of patent medicines continued side by side , which were marketed in India and abroad. However , greater emphasis was laid on treating the patients than to mass production.
During subsequent years and upto nearly the end of 1983, all work pertaining to the production of medicines as well as the treatment of patients was performed within the framework of NAVJIVAN PHARMACEUTICAL WORKS only . But this dual function more often created bottlenecks and resulted in the delay to the treatment of overseas patients. This prompted Shri Param Jit Kumar to divide the work under two parts by leaving the job of producing the medicine to Navjivan Pharmaceutical Works and he established a new wing by the name of NAVJIVAN HEALTH SERVICE , for allocating the task of studying the cases and administering treatment to patients all over the world through individual basis.
NAVJIVAN’S AIDS AYURVEDIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND NATURE CURE CENTRE Navjivan’s Aids Ayurvedic Research Institute and Nature Cure Centres is a massive built - up complex , which highly qualified and experienced Physicians work in Aids Research Section under a systematic and co-ordinated plan of action . Navjivan’s Aids Research Institute is granted Manufacturing Licence by Haryana State , Govt. of India.
After the death of Shri Param Jit Kumar , both the wings of the firm function under the same Management and are controlled by Monica Bibbly Sood , who is only daughter of Shri Param Jit Kumar and his sole successor.

NO MASS PRODUCED MEDICINES AT NAVJIVAN HEALTH SERVICE
Navjivan Remedies can not be mass produced , nor these are available at drug stores. The most important reason being that self - medication on the part of the patient has to be discouraged . Moreover , with the passage of time , we have evolved scores of medicines for every malignant disease. The variations in composition of these medicines pertaining to a common diseases are so complex that only our experts can tell , which medicine is to be administered to whom . This depends upon weight , height , age , sex of the patient , previous ailments , complications and duration of the disease.
