venereal diseases-
Venereal Diseases or Sexually Transmitted Diseases have been the greatest bane of mankind since ancient ages. In modern times the diseases have become more rampant due to greater mobility and social intercourse among people.
SYPHILIS of course is the most virulent and devastating among these. Caused by spiral organism called Theponema Pallidum, it is a highly contagious disease passed on mainly during coitus, but can also be conducted while kissing if there are infected lesions in the mouth. After incubation period a rash usually breaks out over the body, developing into lesions on the lips, tongue and palate.
If neglected, Syphilis can cause blindness, insanity and severe heart troubles. When either of couples or both partners suffer from this disease, the child thus conceived can be physically deformed, mentally handicapped or cripple on birth.
CHANCROID or soft sore is only second to Syphilis in its virulence and malignancy. The disease erupts like a ragged, tender ulcer on the genitals and in severe cases may appear form of several ulcers at the same. Pregnancy during this disease can also impair the embryo and inflict permanent disability on the child from birth.
GONORRHOEA is caused by a bean shaped organism and usually manifests in men with burning sensation and pain while urinating as well as discharge which is purulent. Women usually suffer from discharge and inflamed bladder, and some cases might not show any symptoms at all. If left untreated and allowed to become chronic, Gonorrhea can aggravate into severe complication and can result in permanent infertility, heart troubles and barrenness in women and individual’s body becomes the host of other diseases.
